Don and Jo Strickland

Thanks to the special gifts and efforts of
Don and Jo Strickland, Lakeview has a new Gift Shop!  Located next to the Sparling Cafeteria, the Strickland Gift Shop is once again located in the center of camp.  Having the Gift Shop in this location provides greater visibility of and more visits to the camp store. Also, the new facility is a wonderful setting that further beautifies the face of the campus.

As an added bonus, the Strickland Gift Shop will house a special collection of the Dickens Village series.  The collection which is one of a select few COMPLETE sets has been a spectacular site at the Strickland home for many years.  Only a couple other owners display the entire collection at one place. We are thrilled the Stricklands have given such a generous and exquisite gift to Lakeview.

About the Stricklands...

Don and Jo have been active in United Methodist Congregations, as well as other organizations, for many years.  Their involvement is far reaching with an influence that impacts the lives of countless people.

As champions for causes involving youth and children, Don and Jo labor tirelessly to embody the calling of Christ.  Evidence of their love and dedication can be seen in their work with organizations such as the Methodist Children's Home, Gulf Coast Trades Center, and their local congregation of First United Methodist Church in Bryan, Texas.  Each of these organizations, along with Lakeview, has as its focus the advancement of, growth in, and spiritual guidance to children and youth from around the state.

In addition to his work with children and youth, Don has been involved in a wide variety of business and civic ventures.  From local Somerville, Texas Mayor to Rotary International Officer Don has traveled far and wide holding many prestigious positions.

Jo is a retired school teacher.  She dedicated 37 years of her life teaching and mentoring students through the school system.  She continues her influence with children and youth through her hard work with the same organizations Don has been so heavily involved with.

Together, Don and Jo have left a lasting legacy of love and devotion that benefits everyone whose lives they touch.
